$1500.00 covers Online Theory and Behind The Wheel training courses. It also includes the fee for your CLP (CDL Learner’s Permit) and administrative fee. Yes, both courses are part of the CDL Program package. Before taking SMTCCA’s BTW course, a theory course is required to be completed first. Both courses must be completed before you are able to be issued a CDL.

For Class B would take two tests (General Knowledge and Airbrakes). You will receive a paper copy. Keep this copy, never discard the paper CLP.
Note: Maryland CLPs (Commercial Learner s Permit) are valid for 6 months from date of issuance.
The DOT physical must be completed by a FMCSA certified physician. Please review the CDL Program Overview for a list of certified physicians.

No. A drug test is only required for the Behind the Wheel driving course, not the online theory course. SMTCCAC will contact you prior to your start date with additional information on completing your drug test. Only a SMTCCAC approved drug test will be accepted
SMTCCAC’s program trains students primarily on automatic school/passenger buses.
